Helen Cunningham
She was born April 14, 1921, to Sophie Robertson Cunningham and Mark H. Cunningham in Wilson, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School and a resident of Sour Lake for seventy years. Helen was retired from Gulf States Utilities in Sour Lake, where she was office manager for over forty years. Everyone in Sour Lake knew she was a Dallas Cowboy fan, and she was proud to have been named Sour Lake Old Timer of the Year in 2007.
Survivors include her sister, Eudora Gilcrease of Beaumont; nieces, Katherene "Kasi" Kirby and Karen Gilcrease Pietrowski and her husband, Ray; nephews, Mark Clyde Cunningham and his wife, Lisa, Jack Wade Gilcrease and Hugh James Cunningham and his wife, Shannon; and sister-in-law, Rose Cunningham.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mark Cunningham and Linton "Buck" Cunningham; and sister, Kate Squyres.
A gathering of Helen's family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family graveside service will follow later in the day at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
