Charlie departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 18, 2015, from complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was 80 years old, a lifelong resident of Central and a member of Zoar Baptist Church.

Charles was a graduate of Central High School in 1952 and during this time he loved his music playing his coronet in the band. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and cross-country trips in his RV.

He was a Baton Rouge Firefighter from 1953 to 1958. He retired in 1994 as Electrical Line Supervisor from Gulf States/Entergy after 36 years of service. There was nothing more important in his life than his family, which was shown in his words and deeds.

Charlie is survived by Joyce Dake, his devoted wife of 59 years; daughter, Lee Ann Thompson and husband Larry; son, Keith Dake and wife Kate; daughter, Pam Dake and fiance Mike Adams; three sisters-in-law, Glenda Carpenter and husband Buggs, Opal Dake Prescott, Pat Dake Dencausse and brother-in-law Bobby Durbin; grandchildren, Amber Schilling, Shane Thompson, Micah Thompson, Alicia Crochet and Kimberly Rankin; and seven great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Leona Dake; son, Charles Lamon Dake, Jr. 'Baby Chuck' and three brothers, Edward Dake, Claude Dake and wife Gertie and Clyde Dake.
