Prentice Weldon Ward, 85 of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Memorial Herman In The Woodlands. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5:00-9:00pm at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 2:00pm at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Bro. David Appleby officiating. He will be interred in Colmesneil Cemetery in Colmesneil.

Prentice was born October 3, 1930 to James Utley & Viola Rhodes Ward in Tyler, Texas. He was a resident of Lumberton for over 50 years. He was retired from Gulf States Utilities as a taxation accountant. He served in the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Prentice is survived by his wife of 55 years, Imogene Poindexter Ward of Colmesneil; son, John Ward of Houston; brother, Truman Ward & wife, Amy of New Orleans and Joseph Ward & wife, Ginger Ward of Frederick, MD.

Services under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

In lieu of flowers and cards people can also make donations to Buckner Children's Home in memory of Prentice Ward. The address is 700 North Pearl St. Ste 1000. Dallas Texas 75201-7437 (Prentice was raised at Buckner's after his father died).
