Edward Vallet, Jr., age 93, a native of Livonia and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on August 2, 2016.

Edward served as a Marine from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Arena. Edward worked for Gulf State Utilities for 37 years. He was a master gardener and enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. He was a charter member of Lanier Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He later became a member of Zoar Baptist Church, where he enjoyed his Sunday school class where he was passionate about singing in the choir and visiting the sick every other Friday at nearby hospitals.

Edward is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Broussard Vallet; his children, Cedric Vallet and wife Vicki, Carey Vallet and wife Ethel, Mark Vallet, Melissa Vallet Peavy and husband Dr. Don Peavy; his grandchildren, Carri Ann Vallet, Renee' Vallet Hooker, Michelle Vallet, Tracee Vallet McCain, Jamie Vallet, Marie Vallet Monte, Melinda Vallet, Graham Peavy and Rachel Peavy; his great-grandchildren, Kailey, Corban, Barrett, Maddok, and Kaleb; his sister, Louise Vallet Langlois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward is preceded in death by his daughter, Leah Vallet, his parents, Edward Vallet, Sr. and Julia Guerin Vallet; his siblings, Gilmore Vallet, Oliver Vallet, Alvin Vallet, Roger Vallet, Roland Vallet, Adele Vallet, Hubbard, and Florence Vallet Prestenbach.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm and will resume on Friday from 10:00 am until services at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Service conducted by Rev. T.W. Terral and Rev. Kevin Hand. Our father Edward D. Vallet Jr. was special to so many people and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We love you "Pops".
