Grady McGee Smith was born to Nicholas Grady Smith and Margery McGee Smith on March 31, 1932, in Daingerfield, Texas. Grady Smith, who obtained a degree in general business in 1953 from Lamar University's first four-year graduating class and was a long-time employee of Gulf States Utilities.

Grady is survived by his wife of 14 years, Betty (May) Smith, his beloved daughter, Glenda Ferguson, and her husband Jerry; Step-children: Terry and Sandra Ling, Timothy and Stephanie Ling, Tammy and Toby Davis; Grandchildren: Haylee Wheeler, Andre' Frame and Macey Estridge, Kristian Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Karlii Shankle, Katherine and husband, Dwight Landor, Brittany Ling, Casey Ling, Tyler Ling, Hunter Ling, Janie Davis, Jeffrey Davis, Jordan Davis; Great-grandchildren: Sofia Perez, Maverik Wheeler, Averleigh Frame, Alivia Landor, and another due in August.

Grady is preceded in death by his first wife Nelda Faye (Baxley) Smith, sons, Grady Lynn Smith and Stephen Kyle Smith, and his grandsons, Jeremy and Justin Ferguson.

Grady was a devoted deacon at North End Baptist Church and served as music director for several local Baptist churches. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
