Priscilla Avonne Dumas, age 85 died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Avonne was born on May 16, 1933 in Idalou, Texas to James Houston Dumas and Ava (Lemon) Dumas. Avonne was the youngest of nine children. Family was very important to Avonne, she took very good care of her parents for most of her adult life.

She also found her work very important; she worked for Gulf States Utilities and retired after approximately 35 years of faithful service. Avonne enjoyed traveling and collecting Waterford. She was first reader in the Christian Science organization in Beaumont, Texas and well respected in that community. Avonne enjoyed spending her free time doing needle point and she always had a cat with her.

Avonne is preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Dorman Dumas, Houstene Kelley, Bill Dumas, Leo Dumas, Winella Ferguson, Dan Dumas, Tommy June Die; and daughter Jane Chatterton.

Left to cherish her memory are sister Judy McCullough; grandchildren Richard Chatterton III and Meghan Buchman; three great grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and loving friends.
