Marvin E. Mitchell passed away on November 7, 2023 at the age of 63, in Baton Rouge, LA. Ever the adventurer, he lived life to the fullest. After enjoying so much of his time ministering, fishing, flying planes, scuba diving, preaching, and enjoying sports, it seems almost apropos that his last day was spent caring for congregation matters and playing basketball.

Phyllis, his mother and woman of strong faith, helped instill a deep love of God in Marvin and his four siblings (Carlos, Cheryl, Angie, and Kirk). He enjoyed telling stories about the great times he had as a kid in Houma with his brothers & sisters, cousins, and friends. As a teenager, Marvin dedicated his life to God, was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and never relinquished his faithful course.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Marvin met and fell in love with Michelle. At the tender age of 20, the two were wed. For the next 42 and half years, the unstoppable force and immovable object have been a dynamic duo, a team that served so many. They had three children together: Miranda (Orien), Matthew (Lia), and Marc; and one granddaughter: Marli Rose. Marvin is also survived by his sister, Angie; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Marvin's love for his family was palpable. Family trips, dinners, and outings were occasions he cherished.

He met and worked with so many good folks during his long and successful career at Entergy and kept in touch with many of them after his retirement. Marvin loved people. Marvin loved Jehovah. He loved his family. He loved his boat (lol). He loved life. His zeal for life radiated and will be missed until all those in the memorial tombs will hear voice and come out.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Phyllis; and siblings, Carlos, Cheryle, and Kirk.
