David Ingram Norwood, Jr., a resident of St. James Place in Baton Rouge, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17. He was 102 and a native of St. Francisville. Mr. Norwood was born July 29, 1910 at Highland Plantation in St. Frencisville, Louisiana to Margaret Barrow Norwood and David Ingram Norwood. He was a lifetime employee of Gulf States Utilities Company from 1929 until 1972 in Baton Rouge, Lake Charles and Orange, Texas. Mr. Norwood was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Baton Rouge. He was a cattleman in Calcasieu Parish and a past member of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association, an equestrian and past member of the Louisiana Paso Fino Association and active member of the Lion's Clubs of Lake Charles and Orange. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes Gauthier Norwood of Lake Charles. Mr. Norwood is survived by a son, David Ingram Norwood, III and his wife, Cammie and five grandchildren: Mary Brent Norwood and husband Peter Knutsson of Lausanne, Switzerland. John Quinn Norwood of New Orleans, Katie Norwood and husband Christopher Alexander of Baton Rouge, Amanda Norwood and husband Davidson French of Franklin, Tennessee, and Sarah Norwood and husband David Barlow of Shreveport, Louisiana; fourteen great grandchildren, Catherine, Cecile, Caitlin and Carl Knutsson; John Christopher, Barrow and Eli Alexander; Jim, Wrenne and Anna Quinn French; Andrew, Sadie, Benjamin and Elizabeth Barlow. Pallbearers will be Christopher Alexander, John Norwood, David Barlow, and Andrew Barlow. Honorary pallbearers will be James E. Toups and Charles N. Malone. A service of remembrance will be held at St. James Place at 333 Lee Drive on Tuesday, November 20 at 11 a.m. conducted by Reverend Don Brown followed by interment at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in St. Francisville at 3 p.m. conducted by Reverend Roman D.
