Edwin H. Wheeler, Jr., 90, of Beaumont passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of the Beaumont area, he was born on November 18, 1923 in Silsbee, Texas to his parents Edwin and Stella Ashworth Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler was an Engineering Draftsman with 35 years of service with Gulf States Utilities.

Edwin was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont. He earned a BA from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Wheeler was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II as a private in the Eightieth Infantry Division, Third Army. He received numerous medals and honors including The French Legion Medal of Honor with a rank of Chevalier (Knight). He was a 70 year Master Mason and a member of the Lion's Club.

He enjoyed snow and water skiing, hunting, and riding motorcycles.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Surviving Mr. Wheeler are his loving wife Nonie Wheeler; 2 sons, Charles McLeod (wife Cris), Gary Wheeler (wife Susan); daughter Celeste Wheeler Mausolf (husband Chris); brother James Michael Wheeler (wife Linda); sister Loma Stratton (husband Everett); 8 grandchildren, Jessica Parmenter (husband Del), Jenna McGallion (husband Lance), Haleigh Wheeler, Jake Wheeler, Morgan Wheeler, Mason Wheeler, Shane Mausolf, Drew Mausolf and 1 great-grandson, Ace Parmenter.

Visitation will be on Tuesday September 16, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Instead of the usual remembrances, the family has requested that donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association , Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter, at 6055 South Loop East Houston, Texas, 7708-1005 in Mr. Wheeler's honor.
