Larry Anthony Blanchard, native of Baton Rouge and a longtime resident of Zachary, La received his ultimate healing while surrounded by his devoted wife and children on January 2, 2017 at the age of 53. Larry died from complications resulting from a brain injury that occurred 20 years ago. Despite the severity of his injury, Larry amazed his family with his positive attitude and strength. He was a loving husband, devoted father, loyal brother, and friend.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Penny Whittington Blanchard, son Brady Blanchard; daughter Lynley Rhodes and husband Joshua; father Vernon Blanchard; sister Barbara Blanchard; brother Doug Blanchard and wife Orlinda; brother Randall Blanchard; sister Sandy Ladner and husband Ned; mother-in-law Wanda Whittington; brother-in-law Lee Whittington and fiancé Yvette Boyd; sister-in-law Jill Whittington; brother-in-law Ryan Whittington and wife Korie; mother-in-law Glenda DeLong; brother-in-law Louis DeLong; sisters-in-law Karen DeLong and Marjorie Poor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Blanchard, father-in-law Alvin Whittington, and father-in-law Richard DeLong.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Larry's caregivers especially Georgia, Cynthia, Jerion, Yolanda, K, and Victoria who kindly and compassionately cared for him over the last 20 years, and to the staff at Lane Memorial Hospital. Larry was deeply loved and his sweet spirit impacted all who knew him. His twinkling eyes, larger than life smile, and love for his wife will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church 930 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, 70802, on Saturday, January 7th at 11 AM with a celebration of Larry's life at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry's name to Hope Ministries 4643 Winbourne Ave., Baton Rouge, 70805 or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, LA.
