Ernest Baumgartner
Ernest Allen Baumgartner, 84, passed away at Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Conroe, Texas, on July 16, 2007, following a long illness. A memorial service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 10 a.m.

A native of Houston, Allen was a graduate of Rice University in 1949 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, following three years of wartime service in the U. S. Air Force. He was employed at Gulf States Utilities Company for 37 years. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and active in its Power Systems Relay Committee.

He and wife, Barbara, were married for 63 years, 56 of them in Beaumont before moving to Conroe in 2005 after Hurricane Rita. Survivors include his loving wife Barbara, in-laws Alan and Penny Bell of Conroe, Margaret Bell Thompson of Houston, and Myron Reichardt of Richmond, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families in Conroe, Needville, LaPorte, Richmond, Bellaire, and Katy, Texas; in Fresno and Ventura, California; in Eugene, Oregon; and in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The family's deep thanks go to caregivers from The Harbor at Hearthstone and Odyssey Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
