Clayton J. "Jim" Gray

Clayton James "Jim", "CJ" Gray 90, passed away on February 5, 2018 at his residence. He graduated from Hackberry High School in 1945, and shortly after entered into the Navy. He served his country from 1945 to 1947 as Seaman 1st Class. Clayton was employed with Gulf States Utilities / Entergy where he retired after 39 years of employment. Clayton was also involved in the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 86 for 4 years, Scout Master for 1 year and Institutional Representative for 1 year, and Order of the Arrow. Clayton joined the Knights of Columbus, council 5755. He started as Bar Chairman; trustees, Deputy Grand Knight, and Grand Knight. He helped in the organization of the original Holy Name Society at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Clayton also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Joyce Mae Gray; son, Clayton P. Gray of Sulphur LA; daughter, Sharon Moses and husband Billy of Moss Bluff; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mamie Gray; brothers, Royce Gray, Doug Gray, and Buck Gray; sister, Verna Lee Savoie. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake Friday February 9, 2018 from the hours of 4pm until 8pm with a Rosary at 6pm and will resume on Saturday from 9am until time of service. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church at 11am. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery.
