Bernice (Crofford) Tharp; 86 years, 7 months, 11 days; passed away on Saturday; October 26, 2019 in Madisonville, TX.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11AM on Wednesday; October 30, 2019 at Boggs Cemetery in Austonio, TX. The visitation is scheduled for Tuesday; October 29, 2019 from 5 to 7PM at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX.

Bernice was born on March 15, 1933 in Austonio, TX to Lester and Orena (Grooms) Crofford. She attended Austino schools and worked for Gulf States Utility (now Entergy) until her retirement. Bernice was a "spit fire" to all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and playing volleyball and listening to Elvis Presley and Alan Jackson. She was a beautiful lady and a loving mother and will be dearly missed.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Mervin Lindsey Tharp, Sr.; and her siblings, Bill Crofford and Judy Cheairs.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Linda Tharp; her son, Mervin Lindsey Tharp, Jr.; her granddaughter, Krista Tharp; her siblings, Betty Roach and Danny Crofford; several nieces and nephews; and other family members.
