Funeral services for Weldon Lee Dube, 81, of Conroe, Texas will be held on Monday, February 4th, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2100 Tickner St., Conroe, with Pastor George Borghardt officiating. Burial will follow at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3rd, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe.

Weldon was born on January 4, 1927 in Creedmoor, Texas to Arthur and Louise Dube and was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2008.

Weldon was baptized in March, 1927 at the family church, Salem Lutheran Church, in Austin, Texas. He spent his childhood on a farm near Elroy, Texas. Weldon attended high school in Buda, Texas before being drafted into the Army in April of 1946. After attending boot camp at Fort Sam Houston, he shipped out to Yokohama, Japan, where he was part of the U.S. Occupational Forces after World War II. After one year of service, Weldon was honorably discharged in April, 1947, and returned home.

Weldon relocated to Beaumont, Texas in April, 1949 and went to work for Gulf States Utilities Company, where he worked at the Neches Station. On October 1, 1950 Weldon married Vera Nell Tetens, of Austin, Texas. Weldon and Nell became parents in April of 1964 when their son, Mark Weldon Dube, was born. Gulf States Utilities transferred Weldon to Conroe, Texas in 1970 where he became Shift Supervisor for the Lewis Creek Station in Willis, Texas. After 37 years with Gulf States, Weldon retired in 1986.

In 1987, Weldon and Nell accepted the challenge of serving as caretakers of a hunting ranch near Camp Wood, Texas. They returned to Conroe permanently in 1989. Throughout his life Weldon enjoyed camping and traveling. He spent his retirement years traveling, volunteering at the Conroe Information Depot, and playing dominoes at the Conroe Friendship Center. He was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church since moving to Conroe in 1970, serving as Elder there for many years.

Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Otto Arthur and Louise Wolff Dube; his adoring wife of 55 years, Vera Nell Tetens Dube; a brother, Ernest Dube; and a sister, Helen Zabel. He is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Allison Dube, of Conroe; grandson, Campbell Weldon Dube, of Conroe; granddaughter, Margaret Nell Dube, of Conroe; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Gordon Erickson, of Waco; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and LaNell Dube, of Euless, Texas; and sister-in-law, Laverne Turner, of Ft. Worth. He is also survived by his wife's sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Carroll Sansom, of Manor, Texas; and Wanda and Richard Townsend, of Lexington, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Weldon loved his family and his church family, and was always eager to extend the hand of friendship to all he had the opportunity to meet.
