Mr. Cecil Dale Goldsmith, 78, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Village Creek Nursing and Rehab in Lumberton, Texas surrounded by loved ones. Cecil was born on Thursday, August 26, 1943, in Lake Charles, LA to Mr. Cecil Leo Goldsmith and Mrs. Betty Jean (Hunter) Goldsmith. Cecil was one of three children and spent the better part of his adult life living and working in Bridge City, Texas. Cecil was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending more than 38 years working as an operator with Entergy in Bridge City. After his retirement, Cecil and his beloved wife of more than 15 years, Sharon Goldsmith, moved to Lumberton, Texas. In his younger years, Cecil proudly served in the United States Army and was always very proud of his service to his country. With a heart as good as gold, Cecil was always willing to help a friend out and was the man of strong character that you always wanted to have in your corner. When Cecil finally took the time to relax, he enjoyed going to the casinos, listening to all types of music- but especially cajun, working in his yard, and watching a good football game. A loving partner, exemplary employee, and PawPaw to his two grandchildren, Cecil left a lasting mark on the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon Ruth (Mikeska) Goldsmith; his children: Becky Contos and husband Mike, Larry Clubb, and Lacey Linney and husband David; his grandchildren: Alex Contos and Easton Linney; his siblings: Frances Primeaux and husband Michael, and Phillip Goldsmith and wife Fran; his numerous extended family members, nieces, and nephews, as well as many co-workers and friends through the years. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents. To honor Cecil's life, a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton, TX. | |||||
