Gerard "Gerry" Francis Hendl passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born on August 1, 1953 to Thomas and Evelyn Hendl in Rapid City, South Dakota. Gerry spent the early portion of his childhood in South Dakota before his father's employment moved the family to Daytona Beach and then to Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduating from Mentor High School in 1971, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While enlisted he attended the Navy Nuclear School and later became a mechanical engineer. Gerry was hard working and was an excellent provider for his family. He could fix anything, from cars to appliances. He loved to fish in his down time, especially in Grand Isle, Louisiana!! He was very patriotic and loved the Lord. Gerry is survived by his wife of 40 loving years, Barbara, children Ryan Hendl, Christopher Hendl, Jennifer Stannard (Aaron), and Jordan Hendl, and Michelle (Chelle)Freed; mother Evelyn Hendl, grandchildren Charlotte Anne Stannard and William Paul Stannard, siblings, Joseph Hendl (Felicia Ann),Patrick Hendl (Sharron),Mary Malnar Foss (Richard),Margaret Markowski (John), Jennie Haldi (Don), Kathleen Martens, Anne Granchi (Bill), Theresa Schultz (Peter), Frank Hendl (Kristen), and Greg Hendl, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hendl, Sr. and his brother Thomas Hendl, Jr. Funeral services will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. with visitation to begin an hour prior. Gerry will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery following services at 11:30 a.m. | |||||
