These pictures were sent to us by Don Brady's brother, Glenn. Sarah found them in some of Don's stuff.
They are pictures of the construction of the old 69kv line from Dayton (GSU) to Huffman (HL&P).
It stayed as a tie with HL&P until 1937 when what is now ERCOT opened all ties to companies that had lines crossing state lines.
After 1937 it was upgraded to 138kv and remained for use in emergencies when it could carry the entire Navasota (later the Western) Division. Don's father, Tullie Brady, was working for GSU out of Liberty when these pictures were taken, On the picture of the GSU crew he is labeled as T. Brady. Mr. Brady retired from GSU's Baton Rouge Line Department. All of these pictures were taken in or about 1927. SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE OTHER PICTURES |
