Joseph Claude Amedee, Jr. born January 16, 1927, passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born in Grosse Tete and a life long resident of Baton Rouge.
He served in the United States Merchant Marines, Navy, and Air Force. He was a longtime employee of Gulf States Utilities.
Internment and an Air Force honor guard private service will be held at Port Hudson National Cemetery on Friday.
He is survived by his daughters Claudia Mayeaux (Tim), Therese Pittman; grandsons Stefan Allen, Troy Pittman (Candice), Garret Pittman; an adoring great-grandson August Pittman; brother Louis Amedee (Lenora "Pete").
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Claude and Virginia Hotard Amedee; grandchild, Katie Allen; his wife, Helen Smith Amedee; his sister Laura Amedee; youngest daughter, Marlene Allen.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Pear at Jamestown and Pinnacle Hospice.
