Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, March 22, was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes on Tuesday, March 23, from noon until service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. T.W. Terral and the Rev. Richard Blue. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Survived by his wife, Colleen H. Creel; daughter, Valarie C. Miller and husband Lee Miller; sons, Mike Creel and wife Cindy C. Creel, and Jay Creel and wife Cindy A. Creel; 12 grandchildren, Michael Creel and wife Sue, Michell C. Wise and husband Rob, Marlena C. Gremillion and husband Denny, Jennifer C. Bevil and husband Jeff, Jessica C. Muse and husband Brant, and Jesse and Joshua Beck; and five great-grandchildren, Cooper Creel, Piper Creel, Hunter Muse, Breana Muse and "Baby" Gremillion.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mona Wells Creel and James E. Creel; and brother, James E. Creel Jr. Raymond was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He set a good example for all. He and wife Colleen met at age 13, married at 18 on Feb. 4, 1950, and had 60 happy years together.
He attended LSU on a band scholarship. He and Colleen loved to sing. He served as a deacon at Lanier Baptist Church and Florida Boulevard Baptist Church for many years, and was attending Walker Baptist Church. He was active in youth activities as a leader, Scout work and the Civil Air Patrol and other groups. He also served as a sheriff's reserve deputy. We were blessed to have Raymond and he will be missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Beck, Michael Creel, Brant Muse, Jeff Bevil, Rob Wise and Denny Gremillion. Honorary pallbearers are Hots Aull, Marvin Johns, Warren Talbot, Alvin Courtney and Joshua Beck.
