Richard A. (Dick) Landry, Jr. was born August 31, 1927 in Orange, Texas. He passed away August 4, 2014. Dick was the son of Kassie Eloise Mitchell Landry and Richard Andrew Landry, Sr.

After graduation at age 16 from Lake Charles High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1944, he attended McNeese College. August 1945, Dick enlisted in the United States Navy. Dick served at the Naval Air Station in New Orleans, Louisiana until honorably discharged in August 1946. He then started his Electrical Engineering courses at LSU in Baton Rouge. Upon graduation from LSU (B.S. Electrical Engineering August 1949), Dick began his career with Gulf States Utilities Company in Port Arthur and later transferred to Beaumont, Texas. After living in Beaumont for 13 years, he then transferred to Conroe in 1970 as Supervisor of Industrial Sales. GSU merged with Entergy and he then transferred to The Woodlands office. During his career with Gulf States Utilities/Entergy, Dick served as a director of the Port Arthur Junior Chamber of Commerce, member of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce & YMBL, chair of the Republican Precinct 2 of Jefferson County (1968 to 1970), member and director of The Illuminating Engineering Society, member and director of the Greater Conroe/ Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, board member of First United Methodist Church of Conroe, president of Montgomery County American Cancer Society and president of "GSU/Entergy Sideliners" retired employee group. Upon retiring in 1994 after 45 years of service, Dick was elected by the Houston/Galveston Area Agency on Aging and Montgomery County's Area Agency on Aging to serve in the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature. Dick served as District 3 representative. Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conroe from 1970 until present. Dick was a faithful member as well of the Beacon Sunday School Class and held various positions with the church over the years.

In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his brother, Julian Mitchell (Mitch) Landry. Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Houser Landry, daughter Dianna and her husband Bob Carroll and son Kyle Landry and his wife Anna. His grandchildren are Jonathan Carroll, Brittany Landry and Andrew Landry. Dick died as the patriarch of the Landry family with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your choice of the various Memorial Funds available for the ministries of First United Methodist Church of Conroe.

Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 7. Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church, 4308 W. Davis St. in Conroe, at 10 a.m., Friday, August 8. The service will be officiated by Dr. Jerry Neff. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Jackson, Bob Gerhart, Milton Smith, Claude Cooke, John Burge, and Clayton Hester. Interment will follow at Garden Park Cemetery, Conroe, Texas.
