Cecil Leonard Johnson, Sr., 72, of Beaumont, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on March 4, 1942, to Lillian Kelly and William Johnson, in San Antonio, and was a United States Navy veteran. He was head of the legal department at Gulf States Utilities and worked as a professor for Lamar University. Cecil was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Beaumont.

Survivors include his sons, Robert Johnson of Austin; Cecil  Buddy Johnson, Jr. of Japan; George Johnson of Beaumont; and Zachary Johnson of Austin; brothers, Bill Johnson, John Johnson, Tony Johnson, and Tom Johnson; and sister, Marilil Reeves.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susan B. Johnson.

A gathering of Mr. Johnson s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015, at Broussard s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Broussard s, with his interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
