Thomas Albert Roby, 74, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was born August 14, 1940 in Manila, The Philippines to Albert Arthur Roby and Sara Carolyn Kemp Roby. He graduated from Apopka High School, Apopka, Florida. After serving our country in the Army, he received his bachelor s degree in business administration from Florida State University.

Tom married the love of his life, Mary in 1960, and would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in February. Their faithful marriage produced three wonderful children, with Tom's loving characteristics and looks passing directly to his eight grandchildren.

Tom had a long and successful career as a Human Resources Executive, working primarily for Gulf States Utilities and Entergy. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Belton. Tom loved music, and especially enjoyed his Sunday School class, and Tune-Up gatherings. Tom also took pleasure in attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Willis Roby; a son Michael Roby and wife Laura of Beaumont; two daughters, Beth Roby Holmes and husband John R. of Belton and Cathy Roby Grooms and husband Rob of Pearland; a brother, Jerry Arthur Roby of Oakdale, CA; a sister Carolyn Ann Roby Garnto, Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren, Jacob Brooks Roby, Michael Tyler Roby, Allison Leigh Roby, Madison Claire Holmes, John Robert Holmes, Jr., Lane Thomas Holmes, Robert DeWitt Grooms, Jr., and Charles Thomas Grooms.

In tribute to Tom, his family sang his favorite hymn "It is Well with My Soul," by his side in the hospital room and turned their husband, father, and grandfather over to the Lord. Truly, it is well with my soul.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, with Andy Davis Officiating. Visitation will be held 6:00-7:30 pm, Wednesday January 21, 2015 at Dossman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Helping Hands Ministry of Belton, as well as, Project Apple Tree and Angel Tree ministries.
