James O.Johnson, age 79 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. He was a native of Baxterville, MS and the son of the late Oscar and Bertha Smith Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Juanita Goughenour, J.T. Johnson, and Jeanette Dickens. A Celebration of Life will be 12 noon Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Tony Holt will officiate. Private interment will be Friday at Nashville National Cemetery with military honors. He is survived by his wife, Alice Miller Johnson, son, Joseph Andrew Johnson and his wife Jamie, son, James Tracy Johnson, daughter, Teresa Johnson, stepchildren, Melissa Wright and her husband Don and Joel Blair, all of Murfreesboro, TN, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was a retired Lt. Col. in the US Army, having served two tours in Vietnam, and a retired Materials Director with Entergy in Beaumont, TX. He was a Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotarian and proudly brought The Dictionary Project to Rutherford County. He served the Murfreesboro community through his work with United Way, CASA and the Rotary Club. Memorials may be made to the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club, PO Box 4197, Murfreesboro, TN 37133-4197 for The Dictionary Project in memory of Mr. Johnson. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 12 noon Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel -- |
