Claiborne Franklin Russum, 95, a seventy-five year resident of Beaumont passed away on Saturday September 17, 2016 in Beaumont. Mr. Russum was born on January 25, 1921 in Smith County, Mississippi to his parents Charles Floyd and Dena Ethel Eady Russum who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife; Velma Russum, son; Robert Wayne Russum, two sisters Jewel Gudz, Morette Long, two brothers; Floyd "Bud" Russum, and Paul Russum. Claiborne was an Appliance Repairman for Gulf States Utilities and prior to that in his younger years was a veteran of World War II serving in the Coast Guard. He was Baptist by faith and attended Amelia Baptist Church in Beaumont. He enjoyed fishing and was said to be a friendly person that never met a stranger and was always ready to give and receive hugs. Claiborne is survived by two sons; Floyd Russum and wife Cheryl of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Terry Russum of Sour Lake, two sisters; Evelyn Merritt of Jackson Mississippi, Frances Webb of Cleveland, Ohio, and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
