Chester Joseph Landry, 80, passed away in his residence Friday, June 30, 2017.

Chester was born in Estherwood, LA on August 30, 1936 to the late Clarence and Anita (Benoit) Landry. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Chester retired from Gulf States Utilities after 37 years of service. While employed with Gulf States, Chester was a member of the Gulf States Sideliners fellowship club. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans Administration. He enjoyed hunting, reading, outdoor activities, wood & metal working and helping people.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara (Kibodeaux) Landry; son, Kevin Landry (America) of Iowa; daughters, Angela Matte of Westlake and Melanie Hardy (Stephen) of Lake Charles; siblings, William Landry, Mary Klump, Daisy LeGros and Rebecca Doucet; grandchildren, Dustin Landry (Jennifer), Brandi Roberts (Aaron), Stefan Hardy (Katie), Mallory Hardy, Gordon Matte, Tali & Ilan Landry; great-grandchildren, Jean-Luc, Jolie & Leo Hardy and Andie Rasberry. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jean LeJeune and Clarence Landry, Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Father Dismas Mauk officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. and will continue Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
