Gerhard Smith
Mr. Smith, a native of Long Beach, California, enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and served as a cryptographic technician until 1947 when he was honorably discharged. During his time of service, he received the victory medal.
Mr. Smith joined Gulf States Utilities Company after graduating in 1951 from Texas A & M University as an electrical engineer. He worked for GSU for 35 years, retiring in Conroe. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Virginia; son, Gerard Smith and wife Rebecca; son, Floyd Smith and wife Linda; grand-children: Laury Hickman and husband Craig; Christopher Smith, Anthony Smith and wife Amy, Joshua Smith, Kathryn Smith, Alex Smith, and Montana Smith; one great grandchild Ethan Smith; sisters, Lillian Von Bima and Barbara Barr; and numerous nieces and nephews. The service will be followed by a luncheon for family and friends at the church.
