Beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle and friend, Bobby Gene Hilborn, age 93, passed away on July 9, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. He was a native of Smackover, Arkansas and longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He retired from Gulf States/Entergy Corporation in 1990 after 35 years' service. Bob began his military career in 1949 in the LA National Guard. He transitioned to the Army Reserves in 1956, retired in 1984 with a rank of Sgt. Major and returned to active duty in 1991 for a period in support of Desert Storm.

Bob was a true southern gentleman who loved and adored his grandchildren. He was a long time member of Broadmoor Methodist Church. He performed volunteer work through the church and enjoyed cooking with his retirement groups, Sideliners and Pioneers. Bob was a lifelong fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. Bob and Cherry, his spouse, were long time LSU Basketball season ticketholders.

Survived by son, Robert Hilborn (Jan): daughter, Janet H. Hall, and grandchildren, Amber Shankle (Robert), Andrew Hilborn and Michael Hilborn (Erin). He is also survived by his sister, Bennie H. Hare.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Cherry Cutrer Hilborn; parents, John L. Hilborn and Myrtle B. Hilborn, brothers, J. L. Hilborn, Ernest Hilborn and sister Viola Rowe.
