During these years the couple built 8 houses, contracting 7 of them, himself. Sam is survived by his wife, Tabbie; three daughters, Sheila Fontenot (Leon) of Pineville, Saundra Marcantel (Robin) of Moss Bluff, Sharla Morgan (Harlan) of Sulphur, and six grandchildren, Bethany, Joshua, Andrew, Sarah, Caleb and Alaina. One sister, Virginia Morris (Bill) of Payson, Arizonia, and a dear cousin, Annie Gore of Wilmington, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Amanda Chamberlain; six brothers, Gurvis, Doug, Bill, Charlie, James and JC.
