James Edward Mahlmann, 87 of Beaumont, Texas died on February 18, 2026.

James was born in Caldwell, Texas on December 21, 1938, to Ed and Ozue Mahlmann. He was born at home with the help of his grandmother, Nellie Lytle, who was a midwife. He started working when he was in grade school at Holubek s drugstore and worked there until he graduated. He also worked at the Sinclair gas station while he was in high school. James graduated from Caldwell High School in 1957. He started work at Gulf States Utilities, Beaumont, Texas in 1957. He worked there for forty years, most of those years he managed the print shop for Gulf States. He worked there while it transitioned to Entergy. After his retirement, he started his own printing business, Creative Impressions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ozue Mahlmann, and his brother, Carlton Mahlmann.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Karen Oliver Mahlmann and his daughters, Rene' Mahlmann Robinson and her husband, Randy Robinson of Pearland; and Nicole Mahlmann Devos of Beaumont. He had five grandchildren, Natasha Robinson, Nikolai Robinson, Anna Robinson Hittler and her husband, Luke, Connor Devos and his wife, Brooke, and Grant Devos; and numerous nieces, cousins, and extended family. He is also survived by his dear and faithful friends LC Brown and Michael Lindsay.

James loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to hunt and he loved to read. His favorite past time was traveling. He and his wife Karen traveled to all 50 states in the US. They also traveled to Canada, Russia and England. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Caldwell Masonic Cemetery, 1411 West 12th Street, Caldwell, Texas. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard s Crematorium, Beaumont.
