Margie Force

A native and resident of Baton Rouge, retired with more than 39 years of service at Gulf States Utilities, she died peacefully at her home on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009. She was 82.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert C. and Elise Arbour Force; sister, Doris Force Smith; nephew, Eugene Scott Smith; and brothers-in-law, Allen N. DeFriece and Eugene B. Smith. Survived by her sister, Helen Joyce Force DeFriece; niece, Karen Elizabeth DeFriece; nephews, John Robert "Bob" DeFriece, Thomas DeFriece with wife, Kathleen, Ralph DeFriece with wife, Debbie, Paul DeFriece with wife, Bonnie, and Michael Smith, of the home.

She loved her family and friends deeply. We will miss her sweet smile and quick wit. She loved animals. She loved to dance. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She was an original member of the Baton Rouge Saturday Nighters. Special thanks to her friends Allida and Reggie Roberts, who cannot know the enjoyment they brought her over the last few years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society or St. Joseph's Academy Development Fund. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul McDuffie, celebrant. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home.

Margie was secretary to as many as 6 or 7 operating superintendents in the Baton Rouge Division Electric T and D department. She retired after a 39-year career with GSU. She was always quite a "character".
