Born in Galvez and a World War II veteran, he proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he met his wife of 66 years while stationed
in England. He was retired from Gulf States Utilities Co. with 41 years of service. Survived by his loving wife, Rita; son, Gene; daughters, Margarite Montagnino and husband Nick, Karleen Guercio, and Sandy Davis and husband John; grandchildren, Brandon Montagnino and wife Ashley, Barrett Montagnino, Samantha Guercio Lacy and husband Bryan, Justin Guercio and wife Lindsay, Drew and Grant Davis, and Adam Norton; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigayle and Keegan; and brother, Henry C. Norton. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Virginia and Carl Norton; brothers, T. D. and Hanson; and sisters, Hazel, Ottie, Violet and Margie. Visitation at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital. Special thanks to Hospice in His Care and nurse Geri for great care of him.
