Dick Krouse
Emile S. "Dick" Krouse Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 23, 2008, at his home, with his family by his side, after a long and gallant fight. He was born July 3, 1924, in Springhill, the son of Emile S. and Ina Miller Krouse.

He was employed by Gulf States Utilities, where he met his wife of 32 years, Audrey Mae White.

In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a flight instructor during World War II. While stationed in various military bases in Texas, he flew and trained pilots in B-24, B-26 and B-29 aircraft.

He earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture from LSU in 1951 and served many years as a judge for 4-H and Junior Achievement awards. His greatest loves were his family, along with hunting, fishing and working in his large garden with his friends.

He was a resident of Baton Rouge and Lafayette until his 1986 retirement to Grand River. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette and enjoyed being a part of the fellowship of Victory Baptist Church in Pierre Part. Mr. Krouse was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey White Krouse; and a brother, Charles Krouse. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary W. and Becky Krouse, of Central, Glynn E. and Carolyn Krouse, of Parker, Colo., and Lynn H. and Pam Krouse, of Plano, Texas; and grandchildren, Jordan, Julianne and Jeremy Krouse, all of Central, Amy Shannon and Audrey Adair Krouse, both of Parker, and Taylor and Ross Krouse, both of Plano. He is also survived by his brother, Victor Krouse, of Norwalk, Conn.; brother and sister-in-law, J.D. "Jack" and Jo Krouse, of Mount Ida, Ark.; sisters, Winifred Gleason, of Mount Ida, and Evelyn Hardy, of Magnolia, Ark.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge, his nurse, Cynthia, and Comfort Keepers, Terri, Pam, Dovie and Jenna, for their wonderful care and support. Any donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or Victory Baptist Church, Pierre Part.
