Mr. William Alexander (Buck) White, 103, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 30, 2009.

He was born November 26, 1905 in Orange County, Texas to Alice and Robert B. White. Mr. White lived his life in Southeast Texas and Louisiana, where he worked forty-five years for Gulf States Utilities Company, now called Entergy.

He enjoyed playing bridge and visiting with his many friends during his retirement years. Mr. White was a member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont.

His parents; his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Edith Guidry White; grandson, Lloyd Biskamp, Jr.; son-in-law, Lloyd Biskamp, Sr.; brother, Robert (Bob) White; and sister, Lorena Peveto preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon White and Nita Biskamp both of Beaumont; two grandchildren, James Alexander Biskamp and Linda Buono and her husband John all of Austin; four great grandchildren, Daniel Biskamp, Tracy Biskamp, Benjamin Loesch and Maggie Loesch all of Austin.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service at the Mortuary.

( From Milton Smith - I believe that Mr. White was the oldest living GSU retiree. If I remember correctly he attended a Beaumont Sideliners meeting a year or so ago.)
