Bob Parks
Robert Lee Parks, 83, of Lake Charles entered into the arms of his savior, Lord Jesus Christ on August 16, 2009. Mr. Parks was born in Lake Charles on September 15th, 1925 to the parents of Robert L. Parks Sr. and Ruth Miller Parks. Robert Parks served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre as an underwater demolitions expert. After the service, Mr. Parks worked for Gulf States Utilities Company as a service man for 39 years, retiring in 1986.

"Bob" as he was known to all who loved him was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved gardening, tinkering in his workshop and spending time with his family. Our Dad always loved to tell a good joke to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed singing in the choir at Boulevard Baptist Church; he loved the Lord and was quick to share his faith with those around him, he also loved good ole' country and gospel music and was always wanting someone to "take a listen with him".

Mr. Parks was a lifetime member of VFW post # 2130 in Lake Charles. He is survived by his wife Billie LeBleu Parks of Lake Charles, LA, and her daughters Becky and husband Louis Deshotel of Denham Springs, LA, and Sandra Broussard of Mesa, AZ, a sister Jimmie Ruth Martin of Lake Charles, LA, one daughter Linda P. Gibson and her husband Gerald of Madisonville, LA, two sons Kenneth and his wife Shawn of Lake Charles, LA and son Robert and his wife Ruth also of Lake Charles, LA, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Parks and Ruth Parks, his first wife Joyce Cooper, his sisters Gloria Swan and Alma Brown and a son Daniel Alan Parks.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roger Templeton will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Thursday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
